The Mission of Local Resonance
As a service of the Grand Rapids Community Media Center, WYCE strives to build community through media. Accordingly, Local Resonance has the mission of connecting individuals of different cultures, backgrounds, and musical interests by informing, sharing, and exchanging diverse musical experiences. Our hope is to create a unique and innovative musical arena in which many genres and styles of music can resonate in harmony with one another.
The program will explore three main aspects our musical community: 1) Local bands and artists, and the music they create; 2) The local live music scene, including local, national and international artists; 3) Recorded music of all kinds enjoyed by people in our community.
This show will function as a self-sustaining radio show, built around community involvement. Each episode will be a compilation of short features created by volunteer radio producers, local musicians, and ordinary people who love music. The success of Local Resonance depends on the ongoing participation of these community programmers, and the diversity of musical tastes, styles and presentations they bring to the show.
In addition to bringing an entertaining, enlightening program to our radio listeners, Local Resonance will also educate – teaching digital audio recording, editing and radio production techniques to contributing producers.
